Debra Salonen

Authors/debrasalonen.jpg

Debra has always thought of herself as a writer.  Her first attempt at self-publishing involved crayons and the underside of her mother's coffee table.  Her mother was not amused.  Deb's fourth-grade teacher predicted that Deb would become a writer someday, but a far more practical high school teacher squashed that idea, saying,  "Journalism? Maybe. Fiction? Get real."  As a feature writer for a newspaper, Deb honed her craft and learned the value of the editorial process.  Eventually, she was able to leave her non-fiction career behind and focus on her love of story.  Her first Superromance came out in 2000.  Since then she has written 23 Supers, a Signature Saga, three Harlequin Americans and one on-line serial.  Her blog is filled with photos, writerly grousing, general nonsense and the occasional contest.

Diane Story

Authors/Diane.jpgDiane Story - yes, it is her real name! - is a lifelong Californian. Her love of romance began when a young, painfully shy girl. Diane lost herself in another's version of life and love, considering books a wonderful gift. She knew that one day she would write a story to help transport someone else into a world of love and romance. It took thirty years before she sat down and truly began that quest, but within a year she had two completed manuscripts that gained acceptance by a publisher, Whiskey Rose Press. Her road to romance started in the 70’s, but the dream became a reality in the new millennium.

YRW is proud of our members who strive daily in their writing efforts, determined to join the rank of published authors. It is a future we encourage with the firm belief in success!

Sheri Humphreys ~

Sheri writes historical romance. Courageous Heart is her first completed novel and has finaled in the 2008 Linda Howard Award of Excellence and the 2009 GOTCHA! from the Silicon Valley RWA. More are on the horizon for Sheri while she seeks a publisher. Learn more about Sheri at her stunningly gorgeous website - Sheri Humphreys

Kris Lynn ~

Kris Lynn is a late-bloomer, deciding only two years ago to be a writer in the midst of a full academic career, where writing lectures, grants and reports were everyday tasks but poor preparation for writing good fiction. So she has been hard at work learning the writer’s craft and getting to know other writers in the valley, which is a wonderful way to learn! Presently, Kris is writing a romantic suspense and a memoir of her youth on a gold mine in the high desert of Arizona. She lives in Clovis with her husband, four dogs, 6 goats and one spoiled horse.

Authors/Christina.jpgChristina Gulke~

Christina Gulke originally hails from California’s chilly central coast and now resides in the central valley where she stays busy as a mom of two young children and a full-time teacher.  At the age of fifteen, Christina read Julie Garwood’s The Bride and was catapulted into the genre of romance where she enthusiastically remains.  Christina is trying her hand at writing paranormal romance steeped in seduction and combat.  Vampires and elves are the key players in the immortal world she’s created, with a line-up of formidable foes from all walks of darkness.  She is the proud recipient of the Yosemite Romance Writer’s 2011 Smooch Award. Christina is not yet published but eternally optimistic.

Sarah Simas ~

Regency with a hint of intrigue and suspense is Sarah's forte. Her first novel, In Pursuit of Love, has received several honorable mentions in contests, including finaling in Jennifer Haymore's "New Beginnings" contest, and it isn't even finished yet! Sarah can be found on her website -
The Lovestruck Novice. Always with humor and wit, Sarah shares her blog with published author interviews.

Elsa Bayly~

I was raised on the prairies of Oklahoma and Kansas.  It was a sometimes lonely place to grow up but a great place to learn to love to read.  Books have always remained my best friends.  I now live in the Central Valley of California with my husband and near my daughters and grandchildren. I write contemporary romance and hope to finish my current WIP next year sometime.

JoAnne Lucas ~

JoAnne lives in Clovis where she writes humorous mystery short stories. Several of her stories have been printed in magazines and anthologies. She is a founding member of Fresno's branch of Sisters in Crime and is a member of Mystery Writers of America.
JoAnne writes as Jay Lucas.

Carrie Spencer ~

Born and raised in Iowa, and a farm girl at heart, Carrie is one of our long-distance members. Carrie writes romantic comedy with a little sass! She has one manuscript finished and is slaving away on another while also finding time to write on her blog: Smart Ass Romance. In her spare time, Carrie works full-time managing a restaurant, designing jewelry and websites, folding never-ending piles of laundry, and trying to train her seven cats to shed outside.

Judith Gallardo ~

Proud to be a “California Girl,” Judith was born in L.A. and raised in Fresno, where she earned a B.S. in Accounting. Concentrating on fiction since 2002, she has won several short story contests with her mysteries. She has written many short stories as well as a column for the San Joaquin Chapter of Sisters in Crime, but novels are her passion. While seeking an agent for her romantic suspense, Crafting the Perfect Man,  and her first Marshal's Star mystery, Deadly Harvest, she continues to write from her home near Yosemite National Park where she works on her series. Visit her at www.judithagallardo.com

Donna O'Brien ~

"Mystery, Suspense, Intrigue, Romance..... Get ready to be chilled and thrilled, then embrace the heat!" This quote from Donna's website says it all! Busily writing the Donovan Trilogy AND her single title, Over My Dead Body, Donna is a novelist on the rise.

Di Ann Tarhalla~

Writing under the pen name Norella Raines, Di Ann writes of heroines with courage and grace and hero’s who fall in love with a lusty soul, some to love and others to hate but always desiring to visit them and the places they live. Raised in Texas and now living in California, Di Ann began writing as a result of discovering love stories and verses written by her mother about the soldiers she met during WWII. With encouragement from her husband, Di Ann is polishing her long ago manuscript and pursuing a career in writing. Visit her website: Norella Raines
